Boks run off their feet

As backed up by the match stats, it was about as comprehensive a win as you will ever see. As poor as the Boks might have been on the day, so were the All Blacks good.

The Springboks made five turnovers to the single pilfer by the All Blacks, and they made two fewer handling errors than their visitors at Kings Park. They also slotted five penalty goals to zero and did not miss a single conversion, while the All Blacks missed three!

That’s because the Boks were never asked to attempt a conversion, while the All Blacks had nine attempts on their way to humiliating the Boks 57-15!

As backed up by the match stats, it was about as comprehensive a win as you will ever see. As poor as the Boks might have been on the day, so were the All Blacks good.

The men in black beat 40 defenders to the 3 from Boks, and made 24 clean breaks to the 3 of the home side. With ball in hand they made a whopping 754 meters to the paltry 148 by the home side.

The Boks were thus asked to make a lot of tackles – 175 of them to be exact. They missed 40 of them, and the ones they did make were mostly passive, which played into the All Black offloading game, hence the 12 offloads to the 3 from the Boks. It was a master class in attacking rugby by the New Zealanders.

Sans an attacking game to speak of, the Boks were always going to be reliant on Morne Steyn for both points and territory. And while the much maligned pivot secured 15 points off the tee, like last week, the kicks from hand were not as accurate as they should have been.

Fed by a lineout that thrived – they lost just one of their 17 throw ins – the All Blacks enjoyed 69% possession and a monster 76% territory. That, together with an attacking intent that held scant respect for the opposition’s defence, quite literally, saw the Boks run off their feet.

  1. I do not, for one minute, believe our players are totally inept. The style we are trying to play at all costs make me question the intelligence of the strategist.

The combinations and amount of players out of position is equally baffling. This is a team that has not gelled all season. Team spirit is non existent and you have to ask why.

There are too many issues around our beautiful game destroying what we love. Supersport will be losing some revenue is this continues much longer.

The Rugby public is beyond gatvol of hearing about game plans. Play the freaking situation.

All this playing without the ball is complete nonsense. Do they think we do not know Rugby.

    Please try another line.
