Grab 2 mates, ditch your shoes, pull a cold one from the coolerbox, and send a few bowls down the grassy stretch in order to raise money for one of the greatest causes in rugby.
Yep, it’s that awesome time of the year when the Players 4 Players run their annual fundraiser for The Chris Burger Petro Jackson Players Fund (http://www.playersfund.org.za) – a foundation started by Morne du Plessis that assists players who have been disabled playing rugby.
Every single cent raised on the day goes to the Fund, and it’s one of the more fun days on the calendar!
The day involves a bunch of people having a few drinks, eating boerie rolls, and playing some good, old fashioned, barefoot lawn bowls. It’s a great day out in the sun, capped off with a raffle and now infamous auction of really cool rugby memorabilia before taking in the Boks vs Italy Test. One of the gems on auction this year is a signed 2014 WP jersey!
The cost per team of three is R450; but feel free enter a “squad,” and then rotate players during the day. Teams are limited to 30 teams, so enter ASAP to avoid missing out.
