Tens, Super Rugby Warm ups, Six Nations … Tank Lanning takes a look at the weekend’s lineups and kickoff times
As Tweeted earlier this week, not a whole lot can be read into these pre-season games as that is exactly what they are – Pre-season hit outs aimed at getting rid of the rust and testing a few combinations.
But being the rugby mad nation that we are, and having the Kings in the S15 mix while the Lions put together a few games that will keep them in some sort of shape as they build up to the promotion/relegation matches, it is obviously quite fun to keep an eye on them.
For me, it is ALL about Juan Smith, who might get a few minutes against the Stormers as he fights his way back from a potentially career ending Achilles injury. The man is one of the greatest Boks of all time, and it would be legendary to see him back in green and gold. Think Vermeulen, Smith and Brussow or Louw with Burger on the bench my friends. Almost better than an 800g rump steak washed down with 18 cold Blackies!
How the Lions boys fit into the Stormers mix should also keep you from slipping into a coma, as should the Mapoe and Serfontein combination in light blue, and the Sadie and Benjamin combination in bright orange …
But none of the above should keep you from enjoying a cold one at the Cape Town Tens … Now that is a rugby event … Oh and apparently some sort of rugby gets going up North in the snow this weekend as well … Below all the teams and times.
