Weekend predictions

It’s the Cheetahs turn to taste Kiwi beef, while the Sharks take a breather. Take in Tank’s weekend picks, the Bru community picks and odds before making yours.

Tank Lanning

This is the line-up:

Friday 14 April

09h35 – Crusaders v Sunwolves (AMI)

Saturday 15 April

07h05 – Reds v Kings (Suncorp)

09h35 – Blues v Hurricanes (Eden Park)

11h45 – Rebels v Brumbies (AAMI Park)

15h15 – Cheetahs v Chiefs (Toyota)

17h15 – Stormers v Lions (Newlands)

19h30 – Bulls v Jaguares (Loftus Versfeld)

Friday freedom – it’s cruel to watch a massacre – before catching the Kings on a spin bike on Saturday morning while you sweat out Friday evening’s sins. Blues vs Canes is unmissable over a flat white and ginger snap, pink ticket collection with the better half while the Aussie derby is on, before settling in for a proper Saturday afternoon and evening extravaganza! Perhaps PVR the Bulls game just in case Stormers vs Lions lives up to expectations and causes a few too many celebratory dips into that coolerbox. Nothing like a Bulls revival to go with those Easter eggs on Sunday morning!

For all the weekend’s teams as they get announced, take in the All Out Rugby Team Sheets.

My picks:

Crusaders by 26

More agreement between the Bookies and the Brus! Flip these okes love themselves a little Kumbaya round the camp fire! But there were two upsets last weekend, and I reckon there is another coming this weekend.

An Aussie derby is always tricky to call, and those Rebels are quite literally playing for their survival! Playing at home, it would not surprise me to see the Rabble rise up.

The Stormers will be flying high after last weekend – always a dangerous space for a coach, but might see Etzebeth, PSdT and new flanker Cobus Wiese out due to injury. The Lions did make the final last year without reason, and are fresh off a bye weekend. Another upset option.

Back at “Fortress Loftus” and with coach Nollis Marais pulling the pin on their rotation policy, for some reason, I see the Bulls eventually firing against a Jaguares side facing the treacherous second week on tour. My oath they were dire last week, though, and if that continues on Saturday, the Jags will feast!

Take the above from whence it comes, though … I am placed 319 on the FRG SuperBru pool leaderboard and having an absolute shocker. Perhaps follow these guys instead:

Good luck out there!
