SCRUM – The 2nd issue

Our Q&A this month is with the inimitable former Bok and Italian coach, Nick Mallet, a man who has single handidly made SuperSport worth watching for mid and post game analysis.

In this issue we also carry our usual brand of opinion and analysis via columnists actually willing to have a say, those being Hanyani Shimange, Zelim Nel, Jed Thian, Gary Gold, John Dobson, Dan Nicholl and Craig Livingstone, covering all sorts of topics like the influence of boerewors in France, the Kiwis opinion on Bismarck du Plessis, and new scrum machines created specifically to coach the new scrum call. All fantastic reads …

We have a feature focusing on whether the stadium can fight back given how good the TV experience is on match day, and if so, how? We also take an in depth look at the kicking stats of the NFL and compare them with those of our Super Rugby kickers, asking the delicate question as to whether rugby would be better with specialist kickers like in the land of Budweiser?

Nick Mallet really is a remarkable rugby man … Get his thoughts on, amongst others, refereeing in the modern game, the political meddling at Western Province, and how SARU should be spending their money in order to keep our players in South Africa.

Along with the players not going on the Bok end of year tour, SCRUM will enjoy a bit of an off-season, and be back with a bang for the Super Rugby season starting in February.
