Well done to the WPRU for dedicating Saturday’s game against the Reds to Tinus Linee, recently diagnosed with MNO. They also invited a few of his former team mates along …

It really was sad to see Tinus struggling to get the words out, but words were not necessary to see how much being invited back to Newlands meant to him. I am told there were not too many dry eyes in the house at half-time when he and a few of his ex team mates were out on the field at half time … Well, the same can be said for those of us on the field!
It was a special moment …
It really was a pity that we had to meet up under such sad circumstances, but it was still amazing to catch up with the likes of Anton Chait; Nico Wegner; Mike Bayly; Andrew Paterson; Gus Theron; Rob Brink; Lance; Simon Berridge; Dale Santon; Jerome Paarwater, and of course, Tinus himself.
Tinus sent Howie Kahn of the WPRU a lovely SMS on Saturday night: “Dit was fantasties, ek is bly oor my oud spelers wat ek gesien het. Ek le nou lekker moeg, ek was die Stormers se gelukbringer miskien?! Lekker aand, en baie dankie van my en my vrou se kant af waardeur ons dit opreg.”
I am told the bucket collections went well on the day, and over 10,000 SMS’s were sent on the day – which is incredible … the line will be kept open until after the Kings game, so please SMS ‘Tinus’ to 38208 to make a one-off R10 donation to the cause …
Below a few pics I took while on the field, and an official one from the WPRU …
