Contrary to earlier reports, fans attending Saturday’s game between the Sharks and Cheetahs will indeed be able to bring booze onto the Kings Park outerfields as usual.
Either in reaction to, or to deny earlier reports, the Sharks (Pty) Ltd have issued the following statement:
Regarding this Saturday’s game against the Cheetahs, patrons and supporters will be able to bring alcohol into the outerfields precinct as usual.
Going forward, patrons and supporters will still be able to enjoy having braais and consume alcohol on the outerfields, however they will have to purchase alcohol from Sharks outlets on the outerfields precinct.
The details of future logistics will be communicated to our supporters after comprehensive consultation between The Sharks Management and the Kwa-Zulu Natal Liquor Authority.
The Sharks CEO, Brian van Zyl has stated, “We would like to assure our fans that we are working closely with the relevant authorities to find an amicable resolution to the matter.”
