Kanko out of Sharks tour

As predicted earlier in the week, Ryan Kankowski has not been selected to tour with the Sharks 26-man squad for their tour Down Under.

Kankowski was dropped from the matchday squad following last week’s poor performance against the Stormers. Coach John Plumtree has made it clear that he’s concerned about Kankowski’s loss of form since returning from Japan, and has confirmed his stance by not selecting the Bok 8th man forward for the Sharks’ tour squad.

Meanwhile, Plumtree has decided to use this tour as an opportunity to introduce some new players. Fullback Andries Coetzee and flank Derick Minnie are on loan from the Lions. Tuks wing Piet Lindeque has also received a call up.

Yet, there is still no space for the up and coming Sibusiso Sithole. And perhaps it would have made more sense, certainly from a national perspective, for Jannie du Plessis to have remained back in SA to get some proper rest ahead of the international season.
