How do you like dem odds?

If your weekend predictions are wins for the Blues, Chiefs, Cheetahs, Reds and Force, you would hardly be carted off in a straight jacket … Yet BetFlash will off you 35/1 odds on that!

Tank Lanning

I have asked BetFlash to look into providing odds on one of Heinrich Brussow or Deon Fourie seeing yellow in a final battle of the weekend that will see the 2 fetchers go head to head?

And to consider the odds on the tallest loose trio in world rugby actually making a steal at the break down against the Force, presuming they get there in time …

And perhaps they will indeed be brave enough to provide some tempting odds at some stage today, but until then, a look at the other odds they have on offer …

Friday 25 April

09:40 Brumbies vs Chiefs, Canberra Stadium, Canberra

My Prediction: BRUMBIES to beat Chiefs by 2

BetFlash odds: BRUMBIES (0.6) to beat Chiefs (1.3)

SuperBru Community pick: BRUMBIES (75%) to beat Chiefs by 3

19:10 Sharks vs Highlanders, Kings Park, Durban

My Prediction: SHARKS to beat Highlanders by 18

BetFlash odds: SHARKS (0.17) to beat Highlanders (3.5)

SuperBru Community pick: SHARKS (97%) to beat Highlanders by 9

Saturday 26 April

09:35 Hurricanes vs Reds, Westpac Stadium, Wellington

Prediction: HURRICANES to beat Reds by 9

BetFlash odds: HURRICANES (0.35) to beat Reds (2.15)

SuperBru Community pick: HURRICANES (91%) to beat Reds by 6

11:40 Force vs Bulls, NIB Stadium, Perth

My Prediction: FORCE to beat Bulls by 4

BetFlash odds: FORCE (0.65) to beat Bulls (1.15)

SuperBru Community pick: FORCE (71%) to beat Bulls by 3

17:05 Cheetahs vs Stormers, Vodacom Park, Bloemfontein

My Prediction: STORMERS to beat Cheetahs by 3

BetFlash odds: CHEETAHS (0.75) to beat Stormers (1.05)

SuperBru Community pick: STORMERS (55%) to beat Cheetahs by 1

So based on the above, let’s take a gander at the BetFlash Flashpot offering odd on the various permutations that could pan out this weekend:

8/1 on wins for the WAR, BRU, CHE, HUR, FOR

10/1 on wins for the BLU, BRU, CHE, HUR, FOR

10/1 on wins for the WAR, BRU, STO, HUR, FOR

12/1 on wins for the WAR, CHI, CHE, HUR, FOR

13/1 on wins for the BLU, BRU, CHE, HUR, BUL

24/1 on wins for the BLU, CHI, STO, HUR, BUL

35/1 on wins for the BLU, CHI, CHE, RED, FOR

50/1 on wins for the WAR, CHI, STO, RED, BUL

So it’s 10/1 on all my predictions coming right. Would have backed myself on that, but I am off to a shocker with the Blues having beaten the Tahs 21-13 in the first game!

The other 10/1 permutation needs the Cheetahs to beat the Stormers … Not so sure about that, but clearly an option! If wins for the BLU, BRU, CHE, HUR and FOR delivers, you are in Black Label for at least a month. A case of beer is going for just R144 on special at www.bottleshop.co.za … R100 dabble gets you close on 7 cases of beer!

But given how the results have gone this year – basically a complete lottery that renders the “Yes/No” coin the best tool to use when making your predictions, it almost has to be worth having a dip on one of those biggies. 24/1 on wins for the BLU, CHI, STO, HUR, BUL is probably the one I would go for. R100 on that delivers you 16 cases of your favourite brew! That is a proper party!

35/1 on wins for the BLU, CHI, CHE, RED, FOR is not the worst call either! The Canes have been really good in recent times, but being the epitome of “Shit or Champagne”, they could easily crumble against the likes of Cooper and Genia! And the Bulls have again gone for the tall timber in the back row and will thus be susceptible at the breakdown. A R100 dabble coming right on this bet gets you close on 25 cases of beer delivered to your door by these Bottleshop troops. That’s basically beer for a year!!

Also happening this weekend, are the Heineken Cup semi finals

Saturday 26 April

16:40 Saracens vs Clermont Auvergne, Twickenham, London

BetFlash odds: Clermont (0.55) to beat Saracens (1.35)

Sunday 27 April

16:30 Toulon vs Munster, Stade Velodrome

BetFlash odds: Toulon (0.25) to hammer Munster (2.55)

Not sure Sarries can defy those odds, but might be worth thinking about a dabble on Munster? It will be all about their supposedly lesser lights … Do Munster have the depth to challenge a squad of galacticos, almost 10 of whom are paid beyond €500,000 per annum, with World Cup medals jangling in so many pockets? Munster’s mostly unheralded young guns, particularly those who may not exactly be household names beyond Irish shores, will prove just as crucial to their side’s hopes as their talismanic totems, led by O’Connell, of whom greatness is automatically expected!

And for those preferring to make a buck, rather than Tweet during the game, BetFlash’s new In-Play offering allows you to just that!

For those new to having a dabble on the team you think will do the business on the weekend, ‘’In-Play’’ means betting while the game is taking place! Betting on ‘’Who is going to score the next goal’’, or “Which team is going to win the second half”, or hedging your pre-game bet based on a half time score that suggest the bookies do know what they are talking about! It’s exciting and edgy, and puts you right in the game!

Watching the game will never be the same again.

  1. Tank, you along with me and about 99% of super bru players got trashed by the the Highlanders. They played well enough to deserve the win. The Sharks were shockingly poor. A bad day at the office for the whole team? Something is not right.
